Coulter Foundation Presentation
On Monday I presented our progress on the hemodialysis project for the Coulter Foundation. They seemed very pleased with our progress and impressed with our team. Its a tough crowd and for the first time, I sensed they had confidence in us. I’ve uploaded my presentation to the blog (PDF; ppt). Their primary points of feedback were:
- We need to present a method for removing body fluid with the device. A typical center dialysis treatment removes 1 L, so we’ll need to remove about 0.5 L daily.
- We need to have a real idea on how we are going to handle vascular access. Details were suggested, including monitors for biofilm and infection.
- We need to work on the toxin absorption strategy.
In other words, they were asking us to solve the downstream problems that we are not yet focused on. There were happy with the SiMPore contributions and the relationship, very happy with the progress on IP, and impressed with our newest dialysis chips.
