Burst Pressures w391,w392
I measured burst pressures on two non-unifrom wafers w391, w393. They have lots of pinholes (especially w391) but the pressure they withstand is pretty high. I expected it to be much lower after looking at the membranes in the microscope.
BSA adsorption study on NHS-PEG surfaces-II
I carried out experiments to test the adsorption of 1 mg/ml of BSA on NHS-PEG surfaces. This time the APTES layer was deposited from solution phase on to the silicon surface in contrast to vapor phase (YES) deposition. Again adsorption of BSA on different layers was confirmed using spectroscopic ellipsometry. Protocol for surface modification: The chips were left…
shear stress reduction via pnc-Si: analytical solution
ByHenryHello everyone, presented here is a theoretical perspective on the shear stress reduction enabled by our shear-free microfluidic system. Briefly speaking, the shear-free microfluidic system consists of three main components: a flow compartment, the pnc-Si membrane, and a shear-free compartment. The membrane attenuates the fluid flow from the flow compartment to the shear-free compartment while permits…
TEOS film stress
Kelly & I deposited 100 & 300 nm thick SiO2 films on bare wafers with the P5000 PE-CVD tool at RIT last week. The wafers were then annealed according to JP’s recipe overnight to stabilize the TEOS layer film stress. The stress was measured using the Tencor P2 profilometer by scanning across it before depositing…
NanoParticle Tracking Analysis
ByAslanHello Everyone, Kilean helped us to set a training session for NanoParticle Tracking Analysis (NTA) in UR Medical Center. For this training session, i had 4 samples including: Beads, Liposomes, Media + 10% serum, and PBS. Here is a summary of what we learned, i am also summarizing a paper that i found for comparing…
Microfluidic Capacitors and Efficiency Measurements
The laboratory has been using our Langer peristaltic pumps for flow experiments in devices with saturated cell culture. A problem we’ve been having with microporous membranes was the shearing of the cells off it, which was attributed to the deflection caused by the pulsing of the pump. So we decided to mount the capacitors to…
