Latest 2-chip Small Animal HD results

While the latest small animal studies was meant to be a test of the new 1-chip bonded HD devices, device failure resulted in the use of the older 2-chip 10-channel HD devices as used on previous experiments. Here is all the data, Sham, commercial, 75 nm NPN trial 1 and trial 2. Trial 1 had three data points, Trial 2 only had 2. For Trial 2 I had the   hospital lab run a complete metobolic panel which gave us urea, creatinine, and albumin. Albumin seems to have risen a little, 5%, but with a measurement limit of 2% this may not be significant, or albumin could increase if the ultrafiltration rate is >10%, which is within reason though not measured here. We do have plans for more sophisticated benchtop studies that  will be able to replicate in vivo conditions and describe ultrafiltration rates in terms of flow rates and therefore transmembrane, dialysate salt content etc.

I will be putting the new geometry and flow rates into COMSOL to check how close our results are to predicted (or postdicted). With these two sets of urea clearance we will have a better idea of how predictive our model will be in the future. This will enable us to verify that our benchtop model will be equally predictive.

Again, all of these animal experiments in rats were done with unmodified nanoporous nitride membranes (75 nm).
