How water sticks to surfaces
A cool article and video on water ‘sticking’ the surface. Notice the difference in advancing and receding angles.

I’ve been trying to make the following device work for the past few years: The people who have been studying this have been trying to use the phenomena to mix solutions, or using arrays of mismatched electrodes to generate a sort of conveyor belt pumping mechanism: My idea is to use the electrokinetic phenomena of AC…
I took a closer look at some of Lingyun’s samples today, and captured some interesting TEM images. wafer 205 with 10 nm Ti @ 35kx wafer 205 with 10nm Ti @ 250kx wafer 205 with 10nm Ti & 10nm Au @ 35kx wafer 205 with 10nm Ti & 10nm Au @ 200kx The higher mag….
In my continuing efforts (previous post) to create a nanofluidic transistor, I recently repeated some of my earlier attempts to prototype a basic Si-Ag-Al2O3 stack. This time, however, I used SiN chips from wafer #1070 (<40 nm>). As before, I aimed for a ~3 nm Ti adhesion layer (4.3 nm actually) and a 12 nm…
Yesterday I used the Melvern to determine particle size and zeta-potential for BSA in DI-water. For the particle sizing I used a concentration of 2mg/mL but I had to increase the concentration to 10mg/mL in order to get an accurate zeta-potential measurment. As shown above the size measurements provided an average diameter of approximately 5.6nm….
