New laptop for the TECAN and DLS is finally hooked up

Over the past few days Josh and I installed windows 7, windows office suite, Malvern’s Zetasizer software (available online), Tecan’s I-control software (available in the 3-ring binder in the glass cabinet above the machines), and chrome onto the new(er) laptop in the basement. I copied the files on the old computer that seemed relevant – they are now located in a file on the desktop called “data from laptop transfer 7-8-13” or something like that and also on the external hard drive behind the large monitor. I posted a note on the laptop informing the other users where their files are and giving them some basic instructions on the new setup. In a week (7/17/13) I will move the screen now hooked up to the old laptop to the new laptop. I also sent in a request to the IT guys asking that they add the new laptop to the ethernet network – it’s been a distraction to need to log in to the internet each time data needs to get off the laptop.

I did not take data with either the zetasizer or the tecan, but both interacted with the computer and responded to commands appropriately. If you have problems with the new setup please let me know ASAP.
