This post presents cell images from the first successful co-culture experiment. I seeded P8 bEnd3 cells alone, P13 NG108-15 cells alone and both cells on PET and SC500 pnc-Si transwells. For this experiment, I seeded 50,000 bEnd3/cm2 on the apical side and 50000 NG108-15/cm2 on the basolateral side of the transwell. I tracked TEER (future…
This post has been a long time coming, but I have finally (essentially) finished all the work for Aim 1 of my thesis. (Credit to Dan for helping with part of it and getting a thesis along the way, see his post here: https://trace-bmps.org/critical-flux-of-ultrathin-silicon-membranes-in-tangential-flow-filtration-of-protein-solutions/) Up until this point, I have been attempting to validate my…

In continuation of the previous post, I ran the pore processing software for two samples (t=0 and t=150 min). The following histograms show the pore parameters and the difference in the pore size and numbers between the two samples. I am not sure if the difference between the pore sizes could be due to sample-sample…
This paper was found when looking for details on quantifying cell spreading and adhesion. The paper discusses how the group has made mesoporous silicon wafers and their success with growing human umbilical vein endothelial cells on the wafers without additional proteins. DifferentialCellAdhesion
We had previously tested different surfactants to see if we could get 20 nm polystyrene beads and IgG to stay in suspension while filtering with the centrifuge. We found 0.1% Tween 20 to be sufficient when dealing with 10:1 (5×10^14) 20 nm NPs and 1mg/ml IgG. During the reverse centrifuge studies we mixed 10^15 particles/ml…
