UV/Ozone is finally ready
Our two O2 regulators arrived this week (it figures we would have two to arrive within a day of each other after waiting for weeks to have one). Tom and Lingyun got to work right away. The image below shows that the UV/Ozone system does reduce the contact angle dramatically when used with oxygen (recall that earlier we used atmosphere in the treatment and found that the contact angle increased).
The sample on the left in this image is untreated.
It would seem we are ready to conduct water permeability tests after treatment to see if match theory. Unfortunately, the low strength of the materials we have on hand will make this a small challenge.
Any idea what the conditions of this treatment are? Is it being done in such a way that BOTH sides will be treated? If not, please make sure this is done, as it would be foolish not to treat both sides. Any wrinkling or other strange effects observed? How long did this treatment appear to last – several hours?
