Fibroblast Growth Take 3
A third fibroblast (L1 3T3, P22) growth test was conducted using glass, untreated and tissue culture treated plastic, and RTPed pnc-Si (W509) as substrates. Cells were grown in DMEM +10% FBS changed every 48 hours. R values are for the fit N=No*exp^(r*t), where r has units of divisions/hour.
For this trial fibroblasts grown on glass, treated plastic, and untreated plastic had very similar growth rates, doubling about every 21 hours. Cells grown on pnc-Si had an r value comparable to the previous test (trial 2).
As suggested in the last week’s meeting the pH of the media was checked before being replaced; this was done twice. There was little difference ( ~.1 pH units) between media pH of cells grown on the various substrates.
