Retest: BSA and DDM diffusion with SC256 and 10mM salts

Yesterday I posted the results from an experiment testing diffusion of BSA and DDM with salts (10mM) across “treated” and “untreated” SC256 samples. The results posted yesterday showed relatively equal amounts of DDM diffusion in both the “treated” and “untreated” case. For the BSA diffusion however the results showed that a greater amount of BSA diffusion was occuring in the “treated” case. I set up another diffusion test to see if I could straighten out this result.

DDM Analysis:

As seen in the results posted yesterday equivalent amount of DDM diffused across the SC256 samples in both the “treated” and “untreated” cases. The final DDM concentration in the “untreated” filtrate was ~0.051% and the final DDM concentration in the “treated” filtrate was ~0.056%.

BSA Analysis:

The BSA analysis from this experiment showed that little if any BSA diffused across either the “treated” or “untreated” SC256 samples. The final BSA concentration of the “untreated” filtrate was ~0.049mg/mL and the final BSA concentration of the “treated” filtrate was ~0.044mg/mL. I am going to set up another diffusion experiment today to see if I can replicate this BSA result.
