100K Microcon with Bovine Albumin
Having finished the hydraulic permeability testing with DI water I wanted to see what the effect of an introduction of protein would have on the permeability values. To do this I simply reran a set of fresh membranes at 21.63psi using a 1mg/mL solution of bovine albumin in PBS instead of water.
The group on the left (1) shows the hydraulic permeability values of the tests preformed using DI water. As previously noted the leftmost membrane of group one has a low permeability value most likely due to an error in the manufacturing process. The group on the right (2) shows the hydraulic permeability values of a fresh set of 100K microcon membranes using the 1mg/mL albumin solution. The introduction of protein can be shown to account for an approximate 45% decrease in the hydraulic permeability of the membrane.
Can you repeat using the same membranes for both tests?
