WordPress updates
I’ve upgraded the WordPress publisher to version 2.6. The most useful change is the ability to track changes to any post/page, compare revisions, and revert to an older version. Here’s a video showing the changes:
Additionally, I’ve installed some plug-ins that should make posting and keeping up with new posts easier:
- There is now a button on the text editor toolbar that allows you to create a table
- A simple formatting toolbar has been added to the comments text editor
- You can now receive an email notification when posts are made. Log in first, then select which categories you would like to subscribe to here.
- You can also choose to receive an email when comments are made to any post, but you need to tell me if you want to receive these notifications. I have to do it manually.
- iPhone users can now choose to view the blog in a mobile Safari friendly view or full view.
The video isn’t showing up on my browsers.
If there was only a quick-edit button that could be triggered while viewing any post, then WP could replace the Wiki’s. As it is, editing is done through a separate interface that requires scrolling through a list of every page that has ever been created. So WP is still not the right tool for collaboration on pages, but these changes will enable better posts.
Video is there now. I watched on the WP 2.6 site earlier.
I’ve added a quick edit link to the bottom of each page/post.
Great, but can you move it to the top of each page/post?
Only posts added after the upgrade to 2.6 will allow you to track changes to the pages. Makes sense. These upgrades are pretty exciting. Thank you Dave.
