Contact Angles
We’ve built a set up for this but it’s not incredibly user friendly right now. It consists of a camera and a stage. Using the macro function of the camera you can take a close up image of the chip, but you must make sure the horizon line is straight i.e. camera and stage are in same plane.
The angle function in ImageJ can be used to find the contact angles.

Droplet looks fuzzy. Maybe that is just fine?
This will likely be sensitive to to drop volume and whether there was any lateral movement as the drop was applied. Have you found it to be repeatable, or have you implemented a detailed procedure to minimize these effects?
It’s not the perfect system yet for controlling the drop. This was done with a micropipette, so drop volume is repeatable, but not position. We can try to rig a stand or something for this.
If you find that the measurements are not consistent, then a simple stand might help. It may not be necessary, though. Trying to drag the spot around and making advance/retreat measurements may also help..
