Burst Pressure NPN, thermal oxide, and PBS exposure
Hemodialysis chips are not surviving the priming process and the 4 hour dialysis treatment. We want to verify that the membranes are being weakened and also to determine if coating with oxide will ameliorate the problem.
Using single slot chips from wafer 1153 I performed burst pressure tests on three groups of chips.
1. Bare chips not exposed to PBS (n=4)
2. Bare chips exposed to PBS for 22 hours (n=4)
3. Chips coated with thermal oxide (RTP with oxygen) exposed to PBS for 22 hours. (n=3)
IT’s not the greatest results, but I’m still encouraged. There is a lot of variation with in the sample groups so it isn’t clear to me that the effects show by the averages is real.
This past week and this week we will be using commercial membranes for the rat dialysis. There is no animal for next week so I’ll have time to do more tests including using the RTP and Tube furnace.
