Urea Assay Standard Curve
The urea assay is straight forward. 6 wells are filled with 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 nmol of the urea standard (50 nL). Each well is activated with 50 nL of the reaction mix.
| Reaction Mix |
Sample control | |
| Urea Assay Buffer | 44µl | 46µl |
| OxiRed Probe | 2µl | 2µl |
| Enzyme mix | 2µl | 2µl |
| Developer | 2µl | 2µl |
| Converter enzyme | 2µl | 0µl |
Four trials of the standard were run. The first two, my first assays of any kind, were run on one day, the second two on the next day.

My thought is that a smaller continuously operated device may allow some patients to be put on dialysis earlier than with standard equipment. Since the device requires the same vascular access as traditional HD, is early application even feasible? Will early application of dialysis affect the progress of renal failure for some failure mechanisms?
